See My Belly
Privacy Policy
Effective August 29, 2026
What we collect
- Account information, including your email address.
- Food and exercise entries, estimated calories, and entry times.
- Preferences you choose, such as nickname, avatar, daily calorie reference, reminders, and share-card settings.
- Minimal usage data: app-open, first sign-in after email confirmation, and first food-log-completed events (occurrence only, no entry content) associated with a random device analytics identifier, not your account ID. We disable automatic capture, page-view capture, and session recording.
- Technical values attached to those usage events by the analytics SDK: random device and session identifiers, and your coarse browser, operating system, and device type (for example mobile or desktop). The page address you are on, how you arrived, exact version numbers, screen size, language, and time zone are removed before the event leaves your device. Your food and exercise text is never sent to analytics.
- IP address: your IP address reaches our analytics provider (PostHog) whenever your device connects, as with any internet service, and the app cannot prevent that. The app does, however, mark every event so that no location is derived from that IP address, so city, latitude and longitude are not added. We never request or collect precise device location such as GPS. The app never creates an analytics person profile, though events from the same device remain linked to one another by a random device identifier.
How we use it
We use this information to authenticate your account, save and display your log, estimate calories from the text you submit, provide reminders and personalized settings, secure and operate the service, respond to requests, and understand basic product use.
See My Belly is a general wellness journal, not a medical device, diagnosis service, or substitute for professional medical advice.
Your entries stay yours
The food and exercise entries you log are never shown to other users. There is no shared feed, no public leaderboard and no profile anyone else can browse. We do not sell your entries and we do not use them for advertising.
We use them only to make the app better. For example, we count which food names were missing from our catalog and had to fall back to the AI estimate, so we can add those foods. That count is food names and totals only — not who ate what.
Estimating calories does require sending the text you typed to an AI model. That is processing by a provider listed below, not sharing with other users. Your entries also leave the app when you use the share feature yourself.
One thing to separate out: product facts (product name and calories) contributed through the former barcode product feature can be shown to another user who scans the same product. That is information about a product, not your diary and not your name — the contributor is never shown. That contribution screen has been removed from the app.
Service providers and disclosure
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, comply with law, protect users and the service, or complete a business transfer. Our current service providers are:
- Supabase — account authentication and data storage.
- OpenAI — analysis of submitted food or exercise text to produce estimates when local matching is insufficient.
- Vercel — application hosting and request delivery.
- Resend — account and password-reset email delivery.
- PostHog — the minimal usage events described above (app-open, first sign-in after confirmation, first food log completed), the technical values listed under “What we collect”, and the IP address described there.
We do not sell personal information or consumer health data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention and security
We retain account and log information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Deleting your account removes your identifiable community-product confirmations and recalculates shared verification from the confirmations that remain. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You may edit or delete individual logs and permanently delete your account from Settings in the app. If you cannot sign in, use our external account-deletion request page. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to know or access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; withdraw consent; limit certain uses; opt out of sale or sharing; and appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Email admin@seemybelly.com to submit a request or appeal. We may need to verify that the request is yours. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable, subject to verification of authority.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the revised effective date here. If a change materially affects how we use information, we will provide any additional notice or consent required by law.
